Lawrence (Trey) is originally from the Tampa Bay area and graduated International Baccalaureate at Land O’ Lakes High School. He attended the University of South Florida (USF), played collegiate baseball for the Bulls, and graduated magna cum laude from the USF Honors College. After college, Trey attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables for law school, where he had a focus on public interest and traveled abroad to research environmental law and policy. He also served on law review and graduated magna cum laude, earning Order of the Coif recognition.
After law school, Trey took a short break to restore a boat and learn to sail, and then became licensed to practice law in New York. Trey began his career as a lawyer for the Legal Aid Society in the Bronx, which placed him in busy New York City courtrooms advocating for those in need. Trey met his future wife while in NYC, and within a few years they returned to Florida, got married and planted roots in St. Petersburg. Upon becoming licensed in Florida, Trey worked as a Staff Attorney for Holland & Knight, other large law firms assisting with discovery in complex federal investigations and class action administration, and locally for small firms handling a variety of matters as a civil litigation attorney.
Aside from practicing law, Trey is passionate about cycling, utilizing his free time to build and maintain bicycles at home and for volunteer cooperatives, engage in the lost art of bike-camping, and on weekends you may find him and his wife biking on the Pinellas Trail with their mini-schnauzer Dino (who likes to come along for rides in a special backpack).
